And then He Comes to Church!?

2013 March 5 (22)

Exhortation

On this Testify Tuesday, we will only be evangelizing at Markville Mall from 6:00PM to 6:45PM so that we can pray with our church family at 7PM. It's gonna be short and sweet tonight.

Those at Harvest Bible Chapel York Region heard from Rom 7. Rom 7:4 says that we have died to the law "in order that we may bear fruit for God." Let's not go out because the law demands, since it doesn't. Let's go out because we want to bear fruit for He who died for us! So let's bear fruit brothers and sisters, a hundred or even a thousand times more!

Grow in holiness, pray, evangelize, whatever you do, don't stop bearing fruit.

Testimony

‎Harvest Bible Chapel York Region: On Tuesday, a couple of us went out to Markville to share our faith. We got into a couple interesting conversations. I spoke to a young man named Mikael. He invited me to take a seat, since I was standing when I started talking to him, which is a rare thing. Most people are just waiting for you to leave! It turned out that he was a very spiritual guy and interested in learning more about the gospel and what Christ had done for us. Truth be told, he was also interested in many other religions, but he said that our discussion cleared up some misconceptions about Christianity that he had. After realizing I was late for church wide prayer, I told him that I had to leave. He expressed interest in possibly talking about these things again so I gave him a Harvest Bible Chapel card and put my number on it since I didn't have any paper. As soon as he saw the card he exclaimed that he knew Curtis. He also told me that he was planning on attending the new believers classes that started just recently. It turns out that Curtis had previously shared the good news with him. I would not pronounce him a Christian, but I feel that God is drawing Him unto Himself. I always wonder if the people that I share the gospel with ever hear it again, or if they ever surrender their lives to Christ. Remember, it's not anything that we do that saves people, but like Paul said in 1 Corinthians "...God gave the increase"!

Breaking a Hundred

2013 February 26 (21)

Exhortation

It's Testify Tuesday! Wooooo!!! That means evangelism at Markville Mall at 6PM. Who's excited? I'm excited. Let's go, let's go!

Those of you at Harvest Bible Chapel York Region heard from Philippians 2. Verse 10-11 says that one day "at the name of Jesus every knee should bow... and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."

That day is coming. It is so close. Are you ready for it? Are your friends, coworkers, and neighbors ready for it? This is why I'm sharing the gospel tonight, to make sure the uncommon community I have in my church family can encompass more people. Brothers, sisters, what we have is so unique. We have Christ! Let's not keep it to ourselves.

Please, if there is "any affection and sympathy", look to the interests of these people as well. I'm going to Markville to do just that, as well as a few others. Will you come? Or will you pray? Will you live for that day? Will you live for God?

Family, let's do this together, for His glory! — with Mike Fenty.

Testimony

Tonight during evangelism, we talked to so many people. Also, we finally broke a hundred! That's more than one hundred people who had the gospel shared with them in a personal encounter, in less than 5 months! Some find an excuse to leave before they hear the whole thing, but... Most hear about their status as a sinner and the righteousness of God in Christ.

More than that, we had all these people come out. I feel very blessed to have Ben, Samantha, Jacqueline, Agnes, and Dorothy. Seeing God grow the team and put His fire in so many people is what evangelism is all about! I can't stress how you guys encourage me by just being there. And the prayer warriors out there, I thank my God for you too. You're the reason we had the good conversation with the Muslim guys, and those atheists, and the blind guy with the Mohawk. God's listening! So keep praying!

Evangelism isn't just about winning souls. It's about making disciples. It's about building up the church. And that's what we're doing every Tuesday.

Spreading the Seed

2013 February 19 (20)

Exhortation

Evangelism on Testify Tuesday! 6PM at Markville Mall. Join us, or pray.

Those of you at Harvest Bible Chapel York Region heard Pastor Paul preach about being a slave to righteousness or a slave to sin. What activities capture your attention? Is God at the top of our list of priorities? So many times in my life the answer would be no. We must remember that we've all fallen short of God's glory, as it says in Romans 3. Even our good deeds are considered as filth. We heard this week "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord". Let us rejoice that we are no longer under the law, but under grace. That grace is not cheap for it was purchased by the blood of the lamb! Let's please God with our faith (Hebrews 11:6) and testify to the world about His goodness in our lives. "How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent?" (Romans 10:14-15)...

Testimony

Praise God for the opportunities that he's provided for us to share the good news! Tonight Ben and I had Samantha, Jacqueline and Hope Linda join us! Thank you all for your prayers...we had a lot of opportunities to spread seed tonight and we can only pray that it fell on good ground. After all, the bible says that Paul planted, apollos watered, but it was God who has and always will give the increase!

God was Good

2013 February 12 (19)

Exhortation

Evangelism on Testify Tuesday! 6PM at Markville Mall. Come, or pray. Please?

(I'm filling in for Tony again this week since he's somewhere in Asia relaxing with fam!)

Those of you at Harvest Bible Chapel York Region heard Pastor Paul preach about grace, grace and more grace! Unless we first know that we have sinned against God and deserve the wrath to come, we cannot have the grace that Christ so kindly provides. Does sin rule over us? May it never be! This is not so with the world...they sin willfully! The gospel, through the Holy Spirit, is enough to convert desperate and dying men into new creatures. It is written in Romans 10:14-15 "How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? How shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they here without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent?" Preach the gospel in season and out of season. Be encouraged!

Testimony

God was truly good to Ben and I tonight. The night started off a bit weird and I was nervous as usual, but God gave both of us a boldness that could only be from Him. We got to share the gospel with Vernon and Pedro (2 Catholics) and Jeff (an agnostic). Then we spoke to Jamal and his friend Brad. Brad told us that he had never really understood the gospel before tonight and that he understood exactly what he has to do to be in a right relationship with Christ! Please pray especially that the Holy Spirit would work in the life of Brad and all the others that we spoke to. We even bumped into a guy who's in the armed forces who I had a chance to speak with. He recognized me, which was amazing, but even more amazing he reminded me about the gospel message I told him...his name is Kevin and I would also hope that this second meeting would not be in vain. Tonight the gospel was preached and all glory goes to God!

Exhortation

Evangelism on Testify Tuesday! 6PM at Markville Mall. Come, or pray. Please?

(I'm filling in for Tony this week since he's somewhere in Asia relaxing with fam!)

Those of you at Harvest Bible Chapel York Region heard Pastor Paul preach about grace. "But the free gift is not like the offense. For if by the one man's offense many died, much more the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, abounded to many." - Romans 5:15. The wrath we deserve is not what we, who are in Christ, receive, but an entire world is perishing. Shall we not proclaim the good news to the world? Spurgeon said it best..."If Hell must be filled, let it be filled in the teeth of our exertions, and let not one go unwarned and unprayed for." Christian, preach the gospel in and out of season! May the love of Christ compel us to do so.

Testimony

Thank you for your prayers! Ben and I had the pleasure of sharing the gospel with 7 people tonight. Two friends we spoke with (Yemi & Raphael) were actually Christians so we got a chance to encourage them in the faith! The next two people (Kat and Dane) were familiar with Christianity, but were not sure where they would spend eternity once they died. They asked us a lot of questions about why we wanted to tell them all of these things and were very receptive. All in all it was a very good night because God was glorified, weak as we are. The Holy Spirit gave us the words to say and we pray that seeds landed on good ground tonight.

A Girl who Cried

2013 January 29 (17)

Exhortation

Evangelism on Testify Tuesday! 6PM at Markville Mall. Come, or pray. Please?

Those of you at Harvest Bible Chapel York Region heard this Sunday from Romans. Rom 5:8, a verse I often use in evangelism says, "but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." God's love has been poured into our hearts (v5), it has been lavished on us. If you're a Christian, you know what this feels like. You know the depths of your sin and thus the magnitude of His love. When we were still sinners, enemies of God (v10), Christ died for us, for you, for me!

You know that you're saved, good. But are you content to let other sinners sink into Hell without ever feeling this love? Are you happy to just let your neighbors die and face the wrath of God? Are you okay with being polite with your friends all the way to the gates of Hell? To never warn them? To never tell of God's love, just waiting for them if they will trust Christ!? Christian, this cannot be right! Preach the gospel! Speak of Christ! I'm not doing it because I have to. I'm doing it because His love compels me to (2 Cor 5:14)! Let it control you too!

Testimony

Testimony time! God encountered a girl tonight in Spirit and in power!

Tonight, there was this one girl who had gone through so much bad stuff at her old church that she didn't consider herself a "Christian" anymore, though she read the Bible and prayed every day. She shared how she had wanted to walk away from God back in October but someone, through God, told her to hold on for something in the future. Today, she had an especially bad day (details withheld) and wasn't sure what to hold onto anymore. Her boss let her off work early (for no reason) and that's when she met us.

We usually don't approach girls but I had just seen her in my prayers. She asked us why we are talking to her; I told her plainly that God had sent us. God worked powerfully in her as we kept sharing about what fellowship is and about Christ's church. She had prayed for God to show up that day and we were the answer to that prayer! As we kept talking and Ben shared his heart about true church and true Christianity, she began to cry. After a while she just burst into tears, unable to hold in all the emotions anymore.

She met God that night in a very real and powerful way. She was lost and honestly seeking direction, God found her and is bringing her back to Himself! Pray that God won't let her go. Pray that He won't let any of us go...

Tonight, we were blessed with so much prayer from so many people. That by itself is reason enough to praise God. When Ben Sampson and I were praying, we begged God to show His power and to give us fruit. God did. Our God is faithful. Praise His awesome name!

Praying for People

2013 January 22 (16)

Exhortation

Testify Tuesday is here again! We are going to Markville Mall at 6PM to evangelize, please pray for us.

Some of you heard this Sunday at Harvest Bible Chapel York Region that Abraham was "fully convinced that God was able to do what he had promised" (Rom 4:21). Well, I am fully convinced of this truth too. Jesus has promised that He will always be with us (Matt 28:20). Our Lord has promised to never leave us (Deut 31:6). We know God wants all people to be saved (1 Tim 2:4) and He wants to do it through us (1 Cor 3:9). Yes, I am fully convinced that God is fully able to do this, I am FULLY convinced that God will save people and draw them to Himself.

And I am the tool that God will use to accomplish this purpose. If you are a Christian, you are His instrument too. Be in prayer with me that He finds a willing heart, not a rebellious one. He IS faithful, He WILL do it, praise be His name!

Testimony

This week we had an explosive growth in people coming out. That by itself is an amazing answered prayer. Mike Fenty, Ben Sampson, Josiah Spence, Ashley Marie, Samantha Ko, Norman Wong... It was so encouraging to have people praying for us (Ben, Jack, others). I was also so happy to see this many brothers and sisters joining us in the reaching of the unsaved. We are fighting this war together! And our army is growing larger and larger every week, praise God!

This week, it seems a key theme was prayer. At least three of us had the opportunity to pray for random people we encountered, right there in the mall! May God cause them to themselves get on their knees before our Lord Jesus Christ.

We were also rejected a lot, at least my group was. But that's to be expected. And we still got the gospel out regardless. I know there are some amazing stories to be shared because I know some of those guys had really good and long conversations (ie. Ben). Actually, I'd really like to hear those stories too. So please share.
